What We’re About
This blog’s mission:
To empower creatives to make lifestyle changes that benefit their life, art career, and their community through providing information and advice.
The Artist Journal believes art, music, and any creative medium, holds the power to inspire minds and create positive change. But, if it were easy everyone would do it.
The Artist Journal is here to provide information and advice for new and establishing visual artists, crafters, Etsy shop owners and designers, just to name a few. We believe in a more assertive and direct approach towards creativity and finding a lifestyle and career that works for you and the 9–5 is not the standard, or doesn’t have to be.
The right attitude to approach this blog would probably be best described in other men’s words:
“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”Stephen King
We would like to re-iterate that as “… the rest of us get up and work,” especially in the context of working from home. But, it’s true. Inspiration doesn’t come often enough to pay the bills; what it takes is to just do it. And the more you do it, the more you improve your skills and don’t have to worry about only running off of ‘inspiration’.
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”Bruce Lee
Even if you’re not a Kung-fu movie junkie, this is short and sweet for all of those procrastinators out there!
It’s better to complete something to the best of your current ability, rather than it never being finished.
These mentalities may seem a bit harsh, but I strongly believe this shift in mind-set will be critical in making change, whether it’s in your relationships with peers, figuring out what to do with your life, or following your dream. After all, if it was easy everyone would be doing it!
A thank you from The A/J!
